Things to do when Alt + F4 doesn’t work

  • Many times fails to work appropriately. In such conditions, it is recommended to close an active application using Task Manager. For doing this, you need to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then click Task Manager at the same time.
  • On the other hand, you can press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Or right-click on that particular program you’re trying to close. And then click “End task” instantaneously. 
  • However, it is very common that this command will not work on many laptops or some multifunction keyboards. This is the reason that on these types of keyboards. The function keys always have some additional functions. For example, they help in adjusting the brightness of the screen or playback the volume. 
  • Suppose someone wants to use the shortcut on these types of keyboards. They need to press the Fn key at the same time. For example, press Alt + Fn + F4 to complete a task.
